Do I Need Recovery Time After CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved non-surgical procedure to get rid of fat from the body, which is often resistant to diet and exercise. A device is placed on the target area, which pulls in the fat cells and basically freezes them. The fat cells which are now targeted and frozen are eliminated from the body naturally. CoolSculpting is an easy choice for people looking to tone certain areas of the body without having to literally go under the knife.

As there is no actual surgery involved, there is no downtime or recovery period needed after the procedure. Routine activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure. The patient can also workout the very next day.

The person undergoing the procedure may not need any recovery time or special rest, but there are a few changes they are likely to experience after the procedure.

  • Redness, stiffness, and slight bruising are common immediately after the procedure. In extremely rare cases, redness or bruising persists for longer than a day. Even in such cases, it is expected to fade in not more than a week.
  • A few days after the procedure, nerve twinges (sharp stinging sensation) are experienced by patients as the nerve endings come back to life again. Medication is prescribed if the sensations are severe. Some patients report pain in the treated areas, which usually resolves on its own.

The real results of the procedure are best seen after a few months. Any problematic symptoms are usually temporary and not a cause of worry.
